The Fast And The Curious

Here we go again! Mucho apologies for not posting. Busy again but in a very good way. For the past three weeks, I have been working as a flash artist at Curious Pictures in New York. It's an honor to work for the company that brought us the Cartoon Network hit Code Name Kids Next Door. Each day not only has been fun, but a great learning experience, both artistically and in business etiquette. Here are some sketches I was able to squeeze in my free time. First three personal future ideas.

Sketches for two fan art pieces.

Subway people. Gave me an excuse to try this awesome new brush pen I bought.

Eureka! I Got It!

Finally decided on a design for my villain. But this will have to wait, because I just got a job position I am thrilled about.

Wart Hog

It's a hog, covered in warts. YUK YUK YUK YUK!

Creature Design Woes

Hey folks, long time no see! Between freelancing, babysitting, and earning a few extra bucks on the side, I barely have any time to post. I even had to put this idea on the back burner! http://jimgrue.blogspot.com/2010/01/it-begins.html But during what little free time I have, I've been sketching ideas for two other ambitious shorts. One of them is about two kids and their run in with a rather odd looking creature. Here are some lunch sketches I have been coming up with.

I thumbnailed the boards, but I do not want to do the full boards till I get this weirdo's design right! ARRRGH! I love a good challenge =) Sketches are © of James Sugrue.

Freelance Scraps and Second Saturdays 2

Freelance drawings for a fellow in LA

Another set for "Second Saturdays"

Fan art I'm working on of internet hottie geek, Carol Zara. It's tough!

Another idea of mine, but it's secret. Nyah!

What's Wrong? You're Looking Down In The Mouth!

These are tough times we are living in people, but we gotta stay strong!

I'm Still Alive

Sorry for the lack of post lately. Freelance has been rolling my way the beginning of the year, and between working 24-32 hours a week at my other job, and watching my 7 month old niece 2 days a week, I barely have time to post anything. These are conceptual sketches for a pitch in LA.

I've also been busy with other freelance projects, but I'm in no liberty to post any artwork. It's hush hush.

Two illustration concepts I'm planning. Trying to get the right composition down.

This is fan animation of very little importance, but I can't help myself. I love these little guys!

God, I gotta get my butt to the West Coast. There's seems to be alot more going on over there. Still gotta save, save, save!
