6th Annual NY Comic Con

Yeah, yeah, I know NY Comic Con ended a week ago, but hey, better late than never. One year has passed since fraternal twins James and Lauren Sagoo ventured out to the Javit Center. Let's see what craziness they get into this year!

Uh....I guess we'll see you next year, if Lauren and James can stay out of trouble until then.

In the mean time, here's my performance of "Gay Wedding" at the Super Jail Panel.

Here's the address to last year's comic con http://jimgrue.blogspot.com/2010/10/5th-annual-new-york-comic-con.html

Hey, I'm Drawin' Here!

People on Deviant Art have been doing a little something called "Guess My Favorite Character" so I wanted to jump on the bandwagon. Here's a sneak preview before I make it all colorful and purty.

That It Should Come To This!

This year, I had the honor of animating the outro to Midsummer Night Toon 3. The show included films by talents Al Pardo, Joe Capabianca, Mike Carlo, Chrissy Fellmeth, Zach Bellissimo, Mirella Toncheva, Gary Doodles, Zack Scheer, and Matt Lee. I can't wait for next year's show! Special thanks goes to Matt Lee, Mike Carlo, Al Pardo, and Tonefarmer.

"Super Jail!" Season 2

For the past 4 months, I have been working as an animator for the second season of the wildly wonderful "Super Jail!" Back in 2008, I was an intern for the first season. I have to say, with the talented Mike Carlo as animation director, and Titmouse Studio at the helm for this season, they have certainly raised the bar on Christy Karacas' masterpiece.

I think my coworkers will agree that the most fun characters to work with are the childishly demented Warden, and the loyal but jittery Jared. I love both these guys like children, I can't pick my favorite! I love the Warden for his over confidence, and Jared for his lack of confidence.

2 days a week, we have Dallies. Dallies are when we go into the office and view our work load for either approval, notes, revisions, etc. It's so much fun to see everyone's take on the characters. Sometimes I will study my coworkers animation, and learn how to make my scenes as beautiful and crazy as theirs.

The following are thumbnail drawings for some of the scenes I animated. I wiped out the dialogue so I would not reveal too much story info. Why spoil the surprise?!

The first time I animated the Warden, I kinda screwed up his design. Christy and Mike told me to keep his glasses always round, and to keep his figure long. I made up these drawings so I would NEVER forget.

"Super Jail!" season 2 begins April 3rd at 12:00am on Adult Swim. I hope you will have fun watching it as much as I had fun working on it. But I will say this, one of the toughest parts of the job...

...is clean up. They deserve a medal.
